Ultimate Guide To Driving Through The Ten Mile Gallery In Yangshuo

Explore Yangshuo’s breathtaking Ten-Mile Gallery without breaking a sweat! While many guides recommend cycling through this scenic area, sweltering summer temperatures of nearly 40°C make driving a safer and more comfortable option – especially for families with elderly or young children. With air conditioning and plenty of time to stop at every must-see spot, driving ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience. Here’s the ultimate guide to help you navigate this enchanting destination effortlessly.

Stop 1: Fuli Bridge

Navigation: Search for “Fuli Bridge” (富里桥) in your GPS.

Parking: Ample parking along the roadside, typically ¥10.

Start your adventure at Fuli Bridge, a stunning stone bridge with over 500 years of history. Be sure to walk onto the bridge itself and admire the surrounding scenery—it’s like stepping into a Chinese painting! Many consider this spot the most captivating in the entire Ten-Mile Gallery and even in Yangshuo. While you’re here, consider taking a bamboo raft ride suitable for families with elderly and children. The serene views from the raft make for a relaxing start to your day.

Stop 2: Xinglong Wharf Bamboo Rafting

Navigation: Search for “Xinglong Wharf Parking Lot” (兴隆码头停车场).

Bamboo rafting is an absolute must when visiting Yangshuo. At Xinglong Wharf (兴隆码头), you’ll find fewer crowds and no long waits. Each raft accommodates two people, making it an intimate experience. We found the raft workers here to be especially accommodating, even letting multiple rafts move together for group photos without requesting tips. This spot is perfect for a leisurely rafting adventure while avoiding the more crowded docks.

Stop 3: Yichi Daotian & Murakami Haruki Café

Navigation: Search for “Xiatang Yijiu Private Kitchen” (夏棠依旧私房菜).

Across from the Xiatang Yijiu Private Kitchen (夏棠依旧私房菜) lies Yichi Daotian (一尺道田), a picturesque café surrounded by golden rice fields—a great spot to relax and recharge. Drive just 500 meters further, and you’ll arrive at the popular Murakami Haruki Café (村上春树咖啡馆). The café’s charming swings are perfect for a quick photo op or a quiet moment to unwind. These two locations are highly Instagram-worthy stops, so be sure to capture the memories!

Stop 4: Instagram Swing & Yulong Riverside Charm

Navigation: Search for “Anzaiye Inn” (安在野民宿).

Park near the Anzaiye Inn (安在野民宿, ¥10 parking fee), and take the small path opposite the inn to the riverside. Head left for the famous Instagram swings, which now include two options but may require a short wait. If you head right, you’ll find the Mingjing Terrace (明镜台) and Yulong Riverside Charm (遇龙水韵). While this area once boasted vibrant rice paddies, it’s now somewhat overgrown and less maintained, so you might want to skip it unless you’re keen to explore.

Stop 5: Gongnong Bridge

Navigation: Search for “Gongnong Bridge Wharf Parking Lot” (工农桥码头停车场).

Gongnong Bridge (工农桥) offers fantastic views of the Yulong River, with plenty of bamboo rafts floating downstream. You can enjoy the scenery from your car or step onto the bridge for a better look. If you’re short on time, this stop can be skipped since the views are visible from the road.

Stop 6: Moon Hill

Navigation: Search for “Lichun-Shangyue Scenic Area” (历村-赏月景区).

Moon Hill (月亮山) is one of Yangshuo’s most iconic landmarks. If you’re dining nearby, park at a restaurant to avoid additional parking fees. Pro tip: Avoid navigating to the official Moon Hill Scenic Area, which charges entry fees and requires a hike with minimal views. Instead, opt for the free grassy area, which offers unobstructed views of the hill’s famous moon-shaped arch—saving you time and effort.

Stop 7: Yangshuo West Street

Navigation: Search for “Yangshuo West Street” (阳朔西街).

After a full day of exploration, unwind at Yangshuo’s West Street, a bustling commercial hub filled with vibrant shops, food stalls, and restaurants. Rent traditional clothing for photos, sample local snacks, or indulge in some late-night barbecue. It’s the perfect spot to refuel and soak in the lively atmosphere.

Stop 8: Evening Show – Impression Liu Sanjie or Romance of the Song Dynasty

Wrap up your day with a spectacular performance. Impression Liu Sanjie (印象刘三姐) is a large-scale show set against the natural backdrop of the Li River, offering a mesmerizing blend of culture and nature. While Romance of the Song Dynasty (千古情) is also a popular choice, we highly recommend Impression Liu Sanjie for its unforgettable setting and captivating storytelling.
