The male owner is an incredible guitarist, while his wife, known as “Wang Ruolin” of West Street, is renowned for her soothing and unique voice. Having recently gained popularity on Douyin (China’s version of TikTok) with over 100K followers, she is a true talent worth checking out. This is easily the bar with the most returning customers on West Street, and for good reason.
3. “Flowing Years” (似水流年)
If you’re a fan of charming, young talent, then “Flowing Years” is a bar you can’t miss. The owner, a 95-born young man with both good looks and musical talent, plays guitar and keyboard, and has transformed this bar into one of West Street’s largest and most popular chill-out spots. His journey from a shy, baby-faced 20-year-old to a mature and charismatic young man is inspiring. The music here is always on point, and the bar has become a favorite among both tourists and locals for its relaxed atmosphere and superb live performances.
4. “Cocoon Love” (茧爱)
“Cocoon Love” is a landmark on West Street, known for being one of the earliest “internet-famous” venues in Yangshuo. The bar’s star, Yun Feifei, became famous on platforms like Weibo and Douyin, gaining over 100K followers with his performances. For two to three years, Yun was the sole artist to carry the weight of West Street’s New Year’s Eve concert, and he’s also the only local singer to tour universities in Guilin, selling out tickets along the way. For me, as someone who has lived in Yangshuo for eight years, this is the first place that comes to mind when I think of a warm, homely atmosphere. The owners’ love for animals is evident, as they have a Samoyed named “Song Bing” (Muffin) and recently adopted a stray kitten they named “OK” just before Muffin’s 5th birthday. The guesthouse itself is cozy and welcoming, providing an intimate and comforting environment that feels just like home. Whether you’re staying here or simply stopping by for a drink, the peaceful and friendly ambiance makes this place stand out on West Street.
