4 Must-Try Restaurants on Yangshuo West Street: A Personal Recommendation

4 Must Try Restaurants On Yangshuo West Street

Yangshuo’s West Street is not just famous for its vibrant atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, but also for its diverse and delicious food scene. Whether you’re craving local specialties or international dishes, West Street has something for every palate. Here’s my personal guide to the best food spots along the street, perfect for anyone with a love for flavorful dishes.

Master Chef Beer Fish (大师傅啤酒鱼)

For those who love bold flavors, Master Chef Beer Fish is a must-try. I ordered the set meal for 139 yuan, which includes four dishes. The fish, served in a tangy tomato sauce with a spicy kick, was quite delicious. However, the portion was huge, and I couldn’t finish it all by myself! The staff kindly informed me that you can order just one pound of fish for around 68 yuan, which is perfect for solo diners. If you’re alone, I’d recommend trying just the fish to savor the flavors without overwhelming your appetite.

Pu Shi – Guangxi Fusion Cuisine (璞食桂北融合菜)

I highly recommend trying Pu Shi for an interesting blend of local flavors and fusion dishes. I tried the spicy sour Snail Chicken (酸辣螺狮鸡, with extra spice) and the sizzling Tofu Cube with mashed taro (铁板魔方芋泥). The Snail Chicken was outstanding—the broth was tangy and spicy, and the chicken was tender and full of flavor. The crunchy pickled bamboo shoots added a refreshing touch. The Tofu Cube with mashed taro was crispy on the outside and fragrant on the inside. Be warned: if you’re sensitive to spice, ask for a milder version, as the heat can build up and leave you sweating!

Borderless Meat Shop – Steak and Pasta Restaurant (无国界肉铺·牛排自由餐厅)

Located in a quieter corner of West Street, Borderless Meat Shop offers a cozy, open kitchen where you can watch the chef prepare your meal. The steak and pasta I tried were both fantastic! The steak was wonderfully creamy with a subtle milk flavor, while the meat sauce pasta (肉酱意面) was rich and full of depth. This place is perfect for a casual, satisfying meal if you’re in the mood for Western fare.

Ganges – Authentic Indian Restaurant (恒河·印象印度餐厅)

For an affordable yet authentic Indian experience, Ganges is a hidden gem on West Street. The owner, who is Indian, serves up traditional Indian dishes with great authenticity. I visited two days in a row, and I can’t recommend their Indian milk tea enough—it’s infused with aromatic Indian spices and tastes richer and more flavorful than your typical milk tea. For something adventurous, try the Masala Crispy Balls (玛莎拉脆丸子), which are served with a spicy sauce—perfect for those who love bold flavors. The curry chicken with rice is also spot on and highly recommended.
